Malvinas 1997
Steel Bowl
Danese, Italy
The steel bowls are the product of a minimal modification of a semi-finished object: two tank components cut and welded together. The weight of the double bowl creates a contrast with its formal balance. The archaic appeareance of Malvinas allows them to be widely utilized. With this project, I tryied to do justice to the fantastic Danese product history. It pays homage to Enzo Maris Putrella's work in 1958. And to the Argentinian name for the Falkland Islands, a Bruno Munari hanging lamp from 1964, also designed for Danese.
