Memories: In October 2006 Quodes launched the initial collection featuring designs by Barber Osgerby, Marcel Wanders and me. It took place at the Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk (Belgium) and we showed prototypes made by cabinet makers from the shipbuilding industry, not yet knowing how to reproduce them in an «affordable» way...but of course we learned quickly. We also remember endless crowds, cameras clicking and design students making sketches of Empire and Pattern, both stunning avant-garde designs. A few years thereafter exhibitions followed at the art museums «Museum für Gestaltung» in Zurich (CH) and «Kölnischer Kunstverein» in Cologne (D). The collection of Quodes developed steadily after that period, and honestly, thei are very happy with Empire, it may not be for everybody, but it shows what Quodes stands for: A contribution to the happiness of people through authentic top design and sustainability.
